Every time when we put some cream on our face or cleanse it with tonic, we make a massage. The most important thing is that the movements should go along skin lines and shouldn’t be too strong. Don’t stretch the skin and don’t rub it. Otherwise you can damage your skin and add more wrinkles. You mustn’t make a massage if there are some suppurative inflammations, burns or irritation on your skin. You shouldn’t massage the skin too much if there is abnormal growth of hair.

Skin lines

On the forehead they go from the middle of it to the temples.

Eyes. Along the upper eyelid from the inner corner of the eye to the outer one along the lower eyelid and in the opposite direction.

On the nose. From the bridge of the nose, along the center of the nose to it’s tip, and from the center to the both sides.

On the cheeks. From the corners of your mouth to the acoustic duct.

On the chin. From the middle along the lower jaw up to the lobe of the ears.
From the middle of the upper lip to the nose and to the upper side of ears.

The technique of massage

  1. Carefully cleanse your face and put some moisturizing cream. Wait till it is absorbed or remove the exceeds of cream with a napkin. After that start massaging. You can rub a few drops of volatile oils into your palms. It will make your massage more effective.
  2. Some cosmetologists don’t recommend putting any cream on the skin before massaging. They advice to moisten it with some water.
  3. When massaging push your chin a little bit forward and half-open your mouth. In this state your skin will be motionless and won’t stretch.
  4. Begin massaging with your forehead. Massage your skin from the middle of your forehead to the temples. Repeat it three times.
  5. Put your palms on the middle of your forehead and make several horizontal movements towards your temples. Let your palms stay there for a moment and slightly press them. Then repeat the movement in the vertical direction from the eyebrows to the line of the hair.
  6. When massaging your eyelids be very careful. Close your eyes. Press your fourth fingers to the inner corners of your eyes.

The examples of massage

Easy circular strokes tone your skin up and improves its elasticity.

Easy rubbing and nips decrease spasm and pain, improve circulation of the blood and metabolism.

Patting helps your muscles to relax and to eliminate oedemata.

  • Put your middle finger on the middle of superciliary arc, press the forefinger to the outer side of the eyelids. Then press the fingers tightly. Open and close your eyes several times. Watch that the skin under your fingers does not move. This massage helps to prevent your eyes from oedemata and shadows and lessens wrinkles.
  • Put the forefinger and the middle finger on the middle of the nose bridge and make several sliding movements down to the tip of the nose and in the opposite direction.
  • Put the fingers of both hands at the corners of your mouth. Then make large circular strokes towards the temples and in the opposite direction. Repeat it 3 times.
  • The skin around your mouth starts to loose its elasticity very early. Regularly do the following exercises to prevent your skin from loosing its elasticity: put your forefinger above the upper lip, the middle finger below the lower lip. Make several sliding movements towards your temples slightly nipping your skin.
  • With easy circular movements massage a line from the lips towards your nose. With short pressing or patting movements massage the skin around the lips.
  • Put your palms against your face as if you are washing it and make several circular movements. Imagine that your skin is being renovated at this moment. Repeat it several times.
  • Finish your massage making slight patting movements along all the skin lines. This type of massage is called ”finger shower” as it is the final touch of classical 10-minute massage.

Reflex zones

When we are massaging the skin of the face we make the skin receptors function more intensively. It affects on the reciprocal action of the brain with muscles, vessels and nerves. The circulation of the blood and the lymph is intensifying, which contributes to the quicker healing of inflammations. The skin becomes healthier. Massage makes sebaceous glands function more active, as the result of which the skin gets rid of the dead cells and oils.

Massage can have either exciting or calmative effect. If you don’t have an opportunity to make massage (for example, you have a makeup or you are short of time) put a drop of volatile oils on the active points. The oil will penetrate into the skin and warm it up.

  1. To cure giddiness, seasick or headache massage 1-2 cm from the middle of the eyebrow.
  2. Pressing the points on the outer side of each eyebrow near the temples you can make your eyesight better.
  3. On the inner side of the eyebrows near the bridge of the nose there are points, which help to make inner tension and oedemata lesser.
  4. Massage the bridge of the nose if you are tired or have a headache.
  5. If you are nervous slightly press the point, which is situated on the lower eyelid, approximately 2cm. from the pupil of the eye.

Types of massage

There are 3 types of massage: classical, which improves the circulation of the blood in the mimic muscles and the tone of the skin. It also helps to prevent the appearing of wrinkles. The technique of the plastic massage is the circular pressing movements. We recommend this massage to women who have oily skin. Nipping massage stimulates metabolism in the skin and contributes to its healing.

Acupuncture massage

This technique has come from the East. Of course it may take many years and sometimes the whole life to master it. But the knowledge of some active points will help you to overcome many problems. You shouldn’t make this massage before or after meals. When massaging breath deeply and relax your muscles.

Watch that the pressure on each point is constant and that your finger doesn’t move. Massage each point for 1-3 minutes. Sometimes you may feel some tension, numbness or occasion pain in this point. Don’t press too hard, your movements should be slow and careful but at the same time rhythmical. If you feel some pulsation after massage it means that it was done properly.

The point ”The third eye” is situated between the eyebrows. It improves the functioning of the endocrine glands, helps to cure headache and cold in the head. Put the middle and the forehead fingers together and press them to the point for 2-3 minutes.

The point ”Four whites of the eye” is situated a little bit below the eye-socket. Massaging this point you can get rid of blackheads and oedemata and make your skin more healthy.

The third point ”The beauty of the face” is situated below the point ”4 whites of the eye” just below the pupil of the eye. If you want your complexion to stay young and healthy as long as possible massage this point every day for 3 minutes.

You can feel the point “The divine appearance” behind the jawbone below the lobe of the ear. When massaging this point you can make thyroid gland function more active and improve your complexion.

The point “The drilling bamboo” is situated near the inner side of the eyebrows. If your eyes are tired and inflamed or if you have a headache massage this point and you will feel much better.
